Born Again: A New Life in Christ

As we journey through life, each of us faces a realization that, regardless of our circumstances or achievements, something significant is missing. For many, this revelation leads to a deep yearning for purpose, fulfillment, and, ultimately, a relationship with the Creator. This quest is where the transformative concept of being “born again” comes into play.
The Call to be Born Again
Jesus spoke directly about the necessity of being born again in John 3:3 (NKJV): “Jesus answered and said to him, ‘Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.'” This profound statement reveals the fundamental truth that spiritual rebirth is essential for anyone seeking to enter the kingdom of heaven.
Being born again signifies a radical transformation—a rebirth that takes place when we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. This is not merely a change of behavior or a new resolution; it is a divine work of the Holy Spirit that brings about a new creation within us. 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV) tells us, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
Understanding Salvation
To experience this rebirth, it is crucial to understand the meaning of salvation. Romans 10:9-10 (NKJV) provides a clear pathway: “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” This scripture emphasizes the importance of both belief and confession—two pillars that support our faith.
When we come to Christ, we acknowledge our sins and the need for forgiveness. 1 John 1:9 (NKJV) assures us, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” In that moment of confession and repentance, the blood of Jesus washes away all our sins and qualifies us all for being called a child of the kingdom.
